"wer Ohren hat, der höre TOXIC SMILEs bisher gelungenstes Album, gerne mit obiger Prämisse. Ein Track über zweiundvierzig Minuten, die zu keinem Augenblick langweilig oder überkandidelt wirken. Was mit elegischem Streichquartett beginnt, entwickelt sich zu einem sorgsam ausbalancierten, mitreißenden Parforceritt durch den aktuellen Progressiven Rock. So stimmig haben TOXIC SMILE ihre Mischung aus Gefühl und Härte selten zustande gebracht. Es wird kraftvoll hart gerockt, ohne verzweifelt in Richtung Heavy Metal zu schielen, während die vielen sachten Passagen ausgefeilt zwischen Sentiment und Verführung changieren. Da passt Marek Arnolds smoothes Sopransaxophon hervorragend zu schmetternden Gitarren, die Orgel erhebt sich wuchtig aus einem samtweichen Streicherbad, die Synthies dürfen flöten und zirpen, das Mellotron unterstützt die klassischen Bemühungen des formidablen Streichquartetts. Bass und Drums sorgen für die packende, angemessen vertrackte, rhythmische Unterfütterung.

...Trotz seiner außerordentlichen Länge ist der Titelsong ein höchst ökonomischer Track, der überflüssiges Klingeling vermeidet. Gut auch die Entscheidung, das „Farewell“ nicht mit weiteren Einzelstücken künstlich zu verlängern. Ein einziger, knapp dreiviertelstündiger Solitär reicht völlig als helles Licht in finsterer Nacht.

FAZIT: Im Hause Arnold und Compagnons muss große Freude herrschen. Erst den Herbst mit dem hochgelobten „Fetish“ von SEVEN STEPS TO THE GREEN DOOR eingeläutet und für die Winterzeit ein herzerwärmendes – und hoffentlich nur thematisches – „Farewell“ geliefert. Kunstvoll, zupackend und hoch emotional – so schön kann moderner Prog sein..."
